On August 6th, the New Orleans Food Policy Council invited all mayoral and city council candidates via email to participate in our New Orleans food system candidate survey ahead of the 2025 municipal election. Through the survey responses, we aim to help the New Orleans community understand each candidate's perspective on the New Orleans food system. With the city facing food insecurity, climate instability, rising cost of living, gentrification, and development pressure, New Orleanians need leaders who understand the forces that negatively and inequitably affect access to nutrient-dense food across the city.
