Who should be here and what’s at stake
This space is for people who have the time or energy, even if not consistently, to bring their voices, ideas, culture, and talents together to talk about climate change and disasters impacting our food system.
While all are welcome, we especially encourage participation from those with a connection to the food system beyond consumption. This might be through professional work, volunteering, experience, or lived expertise.
If you feel you would benefit from being part of this space and that your perspective would contribute meaningfully, you are invited!
We take an expansive, overlapping approach. This includes people working in fisheries, rural energy (e.g. solar or wind), agriculture, water access, city planning, economic development, and more. Building durable, resilient systems requires all of us.
What are examples of questions do we want to answer:
How do data centers impact land and water use, and in turn, our farms and food systems?
Louisiana doesn’t grow nearly enough food to feed its residents. What would a meaningful long-term strategy look like to change that?
What policies help or hinder small and mid-scale farmers and fishers?
What can Louisiana learn from other states or regions that have strengthened local food production?
How do I/we collaborate with more parts of the state? Who can I work with on Climate and Disaster work that impacts how we eat?
